LMH Student Artwork Selected by Landis Homes
In May, Landis Homes announced the Art Student Award winner for 2010. Carli Bowman, a 2010 Lancaster Mennonite High School senior, was chosen for her color photograph entitled "Reflection in a Horse’s Eye.”
The unique color photograph is a close up of a horse’s eye with the reflection of a fence and shadow of another horse. Carli said the horse belonged to one of her neighbors.
"I find great satisfaction out of winning an award like this because it means that someone has taken interest in my art and creativity,” says Carli. “Art is subjective so it is rewarding when someone can appreciate your work just as much as you do.”
Carli, who was born in Boston, MA, lives in Strasburg, PA, with her parents Leon and Deborah Bowman. She graduated from LMHS in June. Carli participated in the field hockey and soccer programs.
She attends Petra Christian Fellowship in New Holland. She is planning to attend Taylor University in Fort Wayne, IN, this fall as photography major.
Carli says, “In the future I hope to impact and influence others positively through my art.”
Each year Landis Homes selects a piece of artwork from the Lancaster Mennonite High School Spring Fine Arts Festival to become part of a permanent collection on the retirement community campus. In return for the artwork, Landis Homes made contributions to the Lancaster Mennonite School art department and to Carli to further her education.
