First semester report cards

We have received positive feedback about NetClassroom from parents and students. One of the features of NetClassroom is the availability of report cards being online. As you will see, students' first semester report cards are now available online through NetClassroom. You and your student can access and print report cards by logging onto NetClassroom and, under the grades tab, you will see a link to the student's report card. If you have questions that relate to your username/password, you can email your questions tonetclassroom@lancastermennonite.org.

8th grade course selection

All 8th graders were introduced to the high school courses offered at Lancaster Mennonite High School on January 24. Students will need to return their course selection sheets to Mrs. Shenk by February 15, 2012. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Shenk at 299-0436, ext. 307.

8th GRADE CAREER EXPLORATION--LMMS

Career Cruising

February 27-28, during Language Arts class, Mrs. Shenk will begin exploring careers with the 8th grade students, using the Career Cruising program. Students will take a career interest inventory that will lead them to careers that would match their likes. Students will research two chosen careers and use a worksheet to help them gain more knowledge about the career. If you would like to explore this program on your own, please use www.careercruising.org(username: lmhs; password: careers).

Career Speaker Day

March 29 students will participate in a system-wide Career Day at LMMS. Students will choose four careers of interest to learn about throughout the morning. Students will complete a worksheet that will help them grasp the aspects of the careers more fully.

Job Shadowing Day

April 20 students will be shadowing person(s) who represent a chosen career. Students will be expected to make contact with the persons they would like to shadow. Students will explore this career, as well as gain knowledge from hands-on activities, questions and observations. Please begin thinking with your children about who they might be interested in shadowing.

Reflection Paper

Students will be given the opportunity to reflect on the careers they have been exploring. Students will determine what they like and dislike about the careers and will begin exploring their long-term career goals (e.g., what classes they must take in high school to meet their need for further education).

If you have questions/comments, please contact Mrs. Shenk, school counselor, at (717) 299-0436, ext. 307, orshenksl@lancastermennonite.org.
