Kraybill Auction

2008 Kraybill Quilt Collection

The Kraybill quilt collection always features high-quality quilts that are hard to find anywhere else. Almost all the quilts are especially made for the auction by Amish and Mennonite artisans -- and the "pedigree" goes with the quilt. Auction sponsors cover the cost of having the quilts made. This is a partial list! We are working on a similar collection for 2009! Contact Gary Hiller with any questions or doantions (see "Contact Auction Committee" tab).

Trip Around the World

Top by David Zimmerman, Old Order Mennonite;Quilted by Iva Troyer, Premier Amish Quilter

102” x 116”

Sponsored by B & G Lumber Company

With well-chosen colors, the common “Trip Around the World” pattern can be quite striking – and David Zimmerman really nailed it with this one.  After being severely injured in an accident, this Old Order Mennonite man became a quilt-maker for a living.  Quilts made from his quilt tops have usually sold for $1,000 or more at past Kraybill auctions.  His craftsmanship and color choices, along with Iva Troyer’s top-notch quilting, make an exceptional specimen of this old favorite.
