2009 Teacher Adventures

Teacher Adventures offer the opportunity for an exciting activity with a Kraybill teacher or staff member.

 

Geocaching Treasure Hunt

Mrs. Smith (fourth grade teacher) and Mrs. Long (fifth grade teacher) along with Kurt and Tina Enck (Kyler 2H, Tristan PreK): A morning of treasure hunting in Chickie’s Rock County Park for up to ten students.  GPS units will be used to locate hidden clues with a treasure for the group that finishes first! A picnic lunch will be provided.

Raystown Adventure

Mrs. Fisher (fourth grade teacher) along with the Kraybill parents, Adam and Eunessa Lehman (Courtney KB, Kari 4F, Mandi 2H), will entertain up to six students at one of PA’s most beautiful lakes. A morning departure will lead them to a day filled with swimming at Seven Points Marina’s beach at Raystown Lake. Enjoy the clear & warm water on their sandy beach area. Other activities will include admissions to the lake’s “Water Trampoline”, feeding of the carp fish, (a “must see” if you have never experienced this)! A special lunch along with dinner will be provided, ending with an ice cream stop at one of Raystown’s popular ice cream shops!

 

Philadelphia Museum of Art

Mrs. Weinstein (art teacher) will give a private tour of the Philadelphia Museum of Art to four people (one adult and three students OR two adults and two students).  Enjoy a summer afternoon in the cool corridors of one of the best museums in America.  Transportation to be worked out with interested parties.

 

Pool Party, Volleyball and Ice Cream

Mrs. Rosenberry (physical education teacher) is teaming up with the Ron and Lolly Kratz family (Hannah 4S, Josiah 5D) for a pool party at the Kratz home in Mt. Joy. This adventure is for up to twelve middle school students and will include volley ball, a cookout and homemade ice cream.   

 

Tea Party

Girls, you and your dolls will not want to miss this exciting adventure!  Kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Burkholder and Mrs. Yoder, will have a tea party for eight students in Mrs. Handwerk's (second grade teacher) beautiful Victorian home.

 

 

 

 

 

Lancaster Science Factory

Mrs. Smith (fourth grade teacher) and Mrs. Wolgemuth (middle school science teacher) will accompany four students to the Lancaster Science Factory.  Have fun hanging out with your friends while exploring one the area's newest hands-on science centers!

 

 

 

 

 

Lunch and Movie

Mrs. Handwerk (second grade teacher) will treat four students to a day out!  This adventure for four students will include going out for lunch and to see a movie.

 

 

 

 

Mt. Gretna Hike and Jigger Shop

Enjoy the great outdoors as you hike in Mt. Gretna, including the tower at Governor Dick, with Mrs. Engle (third grade teacher) and Miss. Kennel (resource room).  Then experience ice cream at the Jigger Shop.  This adventure is for up to three students

 

 

 

Mini-Golf & Ice Cream

Join Mrs. Steffen (first grade teacher) and Miss. Detweiler (fifth grade teacher) for an afternoon of miniature golfing and ice cream for four students.


 

 

Biking Adventure

Cycle the Conewago Trail from Elizabethtown to Mt. Gretna with principal, Mr. Weber.  There will be a stop along the way at the Jigger Shop for ice cream.  Instructions on bicycle safety included.  This event is for up to four students.  Bikes and helmets required.

 

 

 

Sewing Adventure

Mrs. Ruhl (home economics teacher) is teaming up with Marci Rittenhouse (mother of Ben and Dan, grade 6) for a fun time of sewing!  Four students will make a project of their choice: shoulder bag, pillow, pajamas, or another suitable project may be considered.  All of the supplies will be provided and the sewing party will take place in the Middle School sewing room on one or two weekday sessions in June.  This adventure is open to 5th through 8th grade students.

 

 

 

Camping Weekend

Miss. Grager (middle school music teacher) will take up to ten middle school students on a fun weekend camping adventure!  Enjoy God's creation with friends!  Male and female students are welcome on this trip.  Kraybill father, Doug Brubaker, will also be take part in this trip.  Come join the fun! Students do not need to bring anything other than their typical weekend belongings, eating utensils and bowl/plate, water bottle, camera, and a sleeping bag.  No backpack, special shoes, or other gear is necessary.  All meals will be provided.This adventure is open to Middle School students only.

The dates for this trip will be July 10-12 2009 so check your calendars!

 

 

 

 

 

”Garton Crayfish Pool Party Adventure”

A “Garton Crayfish Pool Party Adventure” for up to ten students hosted by Mrs. Garton (elementary/ middle school computer teacher)!  Swimming, games, lunch (including frog legs), and crayfish catching contest! Fun in the creek- Catch ‘em, cook ‘em, EAT ‘em!  The date to be determined between the buyer and Mrs. Garton; time 1:00pm-4:00pm.

 

 

 

Sight & Sound and Lunch

Enjoy lunch with Mrs. Wolgemuth (middle school science teacher) at Five Guys and then take in a show at Sight & Sound.  This adventure is for four middle school students.
