EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

Full-day Pre-kindergarten

  • Full-day program (8:20 a.m. to 2:55 p.m.)
  • 2 days per week (Tuesday & Thursday)
  • Students must be age 4 by September 1.

    Kindergarten

  • Choice of full-day kindergarten program 5, 4 or 3 days per week
  • Success-based curriculum blends academic and developmental approaches.
  • Students must be age 5 by September 1.

    Elementary School

  • Emphasis upon basic educational skills, habits and knowledge
  • Classes are self-contained except for physical education, music, art and Spanish classes.
  • Technology integration K-8; formal keyboarding instruction starts in third grade

    Middle School (Grades 6-8)

    Leadership development through Student Council, yearbook staff, Peer Helper and other opportunities for middle school students

  • Home Technology
  • Peer Helpers Program

  • Spiritual life emphasized by formal Bible classes, chapel services, and special programs

    Spiritual Life

    Elementary students receive daily Bible instruction using the Journeys with God Bible curriculum.

  • Middle school students attend Bible class twice each week.
  • All students attend a weekly chapel service.
  • All teachers are committed to integrate Christian faith into all subject areas.

    World Language

    Spanish instruction is offered in kindergarten through 7th grade, with plans to add 8th grade for 2009-10.

    Fine & Performing Arts

  • Music specialists for both elementary and middle school
  • Two major musical productions each year, involving every student in grades 1-5
  • Instrumental music lessons are available for students in grades 4 through 8.

    Athletics

    Kraybill is a member of the Commonwealth Christian Athletic Conference (CCAC).

  • Mennonite Sports Organization provides athletic opportunities for students in grades PreK-6.

    Location

    Kraybill is located on a 12-acre rural campus along Kraybill Church Road, two miles southwest of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania.

    Transportation

    • Kraybill buses students from Elizabethtown, Donegal, Columbia and part of Manheim Central School Districts.
    • Public school districts whose borders are within 10 miles of Kraybill  will provide district residents with transportation between the district and the Locust Grove Campus:
    • Donegal (Kraybill bus)
    • Eastern York County
    • Elizabethtown (Kraybill bus)
    • Hempfield
    • Lower Dauphin
    • Manheim Central
    • Palmyra
    • Penn Manor

      Please contact your public school district for details about their non-public transportation policies and schedules.

      Children under the age of 5 cannot be transported on buses.

    STUDENT BODY

  • 350 students in PreK-grade 8
  • More than 70 congregations in 20 Christian denominations represented
  • Students come from ten school districts: Columbia, Donegal, Elizabethtown, Hempfield, Manheim Central, Palmyra, Eastern York County, Lower Dauphin, Penn Manor and Hershey.
  • Approximately 60% of the students are from Anabaptist-related congregations.

    SUPPORT SERVICES

    The Kraybill Campus offers special education programs to meet the diverse educational needs of the student body.

  • The Resource Room for students with significant delays in one or more subjects. The instruction and grade is given by a special education teacher.
  • The Challenge Program is designed to better meet the needs of academically gifted students.
  • Educational Therapy offers individual therapy with a trained specialist to strengthen learning deficit areas.
  • Full-time on-site remedial specialist for reading and math
  • On-site speech therapist
  • On-site guidance counselor available

    TUITION AND FEES

    Lancaster Mennonite School seeks to make the cost of Christian education affordable. Tuition discounts and scholarships are available for families with multiple children enrolled in Lancaster Mennonite School, for families from supporting congregations, and for those that demonstrate financial need through a confidential assessment.

     Tuition Schedule for 2008-09

    PreK  (2 days)  $150/ mo. (12 months)
    Kindergarten (3 days)   $225/ mo. (12 months)
    Kindergarten (4 days) $300/ mo. (12 months)
    Kindergarten (5 days) $370/ mo. (12 months)
    Grades 1 through 5    $384/ mo. (12 months)
    Grades 6 through 8 (Middle School)     $417/ mo. (12 months)
    Registration Fee   $100 per student
    Accident Insurance Fee $25
      
     
    Additional fees apply for PreK-8 learning support services at all campuses.

    Discount for students at any LMS campus in grades K-12
    $400 discount for second child; $500 discount for each additional child
