Student Support Services
Learning Support
The Learning Support Program is a multi-categorical, inclusion program
that enables students who learn differently to participate in regular
education within the classroom. The Learning Support staff partner with
classroom teachers and parents to ensure that curriculum, instruction,
and evaluations are flexible and meet the needs of all students. A plan
is developed and reviewed annually for all learning support students.
The plan articulates how the needs of the learning support students
will be best met in the classroom. Some students will come to the Learning
Support room for small group instruction in math and language arts if
it is determined that their learning needs are best met in that way.
The Kraybill Campus also offers Education Therapy designed to remediate
learning disabilities.
To supplement the Kraybill staff, Intermediate Unit 13 provides a full-time remedial reading and math specialist, a speech therapist, and a guidance counselor on the Kraybill Campus. Students meet with these skilled professionals in modern, attractive offices within the main Kraybill building.
Challenge Program
The Challenge Program provides the opportunity for students to participate
in gifted education. Students join a small group of peers for a two-hour
session each week. This is a "pull out" program from the regular school
day. Students are expected to make up work they miss in the regular
classroom while in their weekly session. Students explore and focus
on a variety of themes and subjects throughout the year.
