Examples of Wikis

  • Useful index for wikis already out there: http://educationalwikis.wikispaces.com/
  • Terry the Tennis Ball – A Choose Your Own Adventure
    http://terrythetennisball.wikispaces.com
This is an example for elementary/ms students – language class. The teacher starts the story, adding a picture. The students add a word, which appears in a list below. Each word is a link to another page, with a paragraph continuing the story Below that paragraph is a list of more word choices that link to additional parts of the story. – Good for beginning collaboration and getting students to write. – May be confusing to check up on though. – It gets kind of out of control. - Val
  • Prichard Elementary Gifted Program
    http://prichardelementarygifted.wetpaint.com
This site is for a smaller class, but could be done with larger elem/ms classes. The teacher has a page for each student and the student has set it up like a myspace with info about themselves. Then on another page, the teacher has posted web-based assignments. These can then be easily accessed at home. - Val
