EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM: PreK-5

Full-day Pre-kindergarten

  • Full-day program (8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
  • 2 days per week (Wednesday & Friday)
  • Students must be age 4 by September 1.

    Full-day Kindergarten

  • Choice of full-day kindergarten program 5, 4 or 3 days per week
  • Success-based curriculum blends academic and developmental approaches.
  • Students must be age 5 by September 1.

    Elementary School

  • Emphasis upon basic educational skills, habits and knowledge
  • Classes are self-contained except for physical education, music, and art.
  • Formal computer instruction starts in fourth grade

    Spiritual Life

  • Elementary students receive daily Bible instruction using the Journeys with God Bible curriculum.
  • All students attend a weekly chapel service.
  • All teachers are committed to integrate Christian faith into all subject areas.

    Technology/Computer

  • Integration of technology throughout K-5 instruction
  • Weekly computer instruction for students in grades 4-5 integrates technology and learning.
  • A wireless mobile computer lab is available for classroom use.

    Music & Art

  • Elementary music specialist for grades 1-5
  • Two music programs each year
  • Band instruction with group lessons  for grades 4 & 5
  • Art classes for grades 1-5

    Athletics

    Mennonite Sports Organization provides athletic opportunities for students in grades PreK-6.

    QUALIFIED FACULTY

    • All teachers are certified and have bachelor’s or master’s degrees.
    • Specialists for special education, art, music, physical education

    STUDENT BODY DIVERSITY

  • 97 students in PreK-grade 5
  • Multiple Christian denominations represented
  • Students from 7 school districts: Conestoga Valley, Hempfield, Lampeter -Strasburg, Lancaster, Penn Manor, Red Lion Area, and Solanco
  • Approximately 52% of the students are from Anabaptist-related congregations.
  • 28.5% of students are from under-represented racial/ethnic groups.

    HOT LUNCH PROGRAM

    The Lancaster Campus caters a daily hot lunch for  New Danville students, which is eaten in classrooms.

    LEARNING SUPPORT SERVICES

  • The Learning Support Program enables students who learn differently to participate in regular education within the classroom.  The Learning Support staff partner with classroom teachers to ensure that curriculum, instruction and evaluations are flexible.  If best for the student, the Learning Support Room provides  small group instruction in math and language.
  • The Challenge Program is designed to better meet the needs of academically gifted students.

    Location

    New Danville Campus is located on a rural 12-acre campus three miles south of Lancaster between New Danville and Willow Street.

    Transportation

    Public school districts whose borders are within 10 miles of New Danville will provide district residents with transportation between the district and the Locust Grove Campus:

    • Conestoga Valley
    • Hempfield
    • Lampeter-Strasburg
    • Lancaster
    • Manheim Township
    • Penn Manor
    • Solanco

      Please contact your public school district for details about their non-public transportation policies and schedules.

      Children under the age of 5 cannot be transported on buses.

    FINANCES

    Tuition & Fees

    Lancaster  Mennonite School seeks to make the cost of Christian education affordable. Tuition discounts and scholarships are available for families with multiple children enrolled in Lancaster Mennonite School, for families from supporting congregations, and for those that demonstrate financial need through a confidential assessment.

     

    Tuition Schedule for 2008-09 

    PreK (2 days) $150/month (12 months)
    Kindergarten(3 days) $225/month (12 months)

    Kindergarten (4 days)
    $300/month (12 months)
    Kindergarten (5 days): $370/month (12 months)
    Grades 1 through 5: $425/month (12 months)
    Registration Fee: $100 per student
    Accident Insurance Fee: $25


    Additional fees apply for PreK-8 learning support services at all campuses.

    Discount for students at any LMS campus in grades K-12
    $400 discount for second child; $500 discount for each additional child
