AP Scholars

Lancaster Mennonite High School senior Darren Weinhold, son of Sharon Weinhold, Lancaster, has earned the AP Scholar with Distinction honor from the College Board in recognition of exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program (AP) Exams. He qualified for the honor by earning an average grade of  3.5 or higher on all exams taken and 3 or higher on five or more of the exams. Weinhold has one more year to complete college-level work and possibly earn another AP Scholar Award.

In addition, seniors Seth Charles, son of Jay and Daleen Charles, Strasburg; Erika Christopher, daughter of Eric and Lana Christopher, Cochranville; Racheal Erb, daughter of Thomas and Michelle Erb, Narvon; and Serena Jeblee, daughter of James and Frances Jeblee, Ronks, earned the designation of AP Scholar by completing three or more AP Exams with grades of 3 or higher. Also named as AP Scholars are 2007 graduates Peter Horst, son of Phil and Sandy Horst, Lancaster; Brian Martin, son of Sheldon and Naomi Martin, Lancaster; and Ben Rittenhouse, son of Dennis and Mary Rittenhouse, East Earl.

The College Board is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to connect students to college success and opportunity. Founded in 1900, the association is composed of more than 5,000 schools, colleges, universities, and other educational organizations. Each year, the College Board serves seven million students and their parents; 23,000 high schools; and 3,500 colleges through major programs and services in college admissions, guidance, assessment, financial aid, enrollment, and teaching and learning. Its best-known program is the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
