LMH students awarded

Forty-seven Lancaster Mennonite High School seniors received awards this spring. Rachel Kennel received four awards, and Aaron Gish and Jessica Zook received three awards apiece.

Rachel Kennel, daughter of Elvin and Wendy Kennel, Parkesburg, received an Alumni Association Certificate of Merit, Scholar Athlete Award, Presidential Academic Fitness Award, and the Rotary Scholarship Award from the Rotary Club of Paradise for the student demonstrating academic excellence, strong co-curricular participation and exemplary citizenship.

Aaron Gish, son of Martin and Robin Gish, Elizabethtown, received the Mathematics Department Award, Pennsylvania Math League (highest score), and Presidential Academic Fitness Award.

Jessica Zook, daughter of Ronald and Judy Zook, New Holland, received an Alumni Association Certificate of Merit, Art Purchase Award, and Presidential Academic Fitness Award. 

Double awards went to:

  • Travis Gehman, son of Jerry and Loretta Gehman, Holtwood, Technology Education Department Award and Presidential Academic Fitness Award.
  •  Heather Gochnauer, daughter of David and Rebecca Gochnauer, Conestoga, Alumni Association Certificate of Merit and Presidential Academic Fitness Award.
  • Noah Jemison, son of David and Doreen Jemison, New Providence, Science Department Award and Presidential Academic Fitness Award.
  • Casey Kelly, son of Michael and Kelly Kelly, Nottingham, Agriculture Department Award and FFA Keystone Award.
  • Karina Kreider, daughter of Barry and Erika Kreider, Akron, Alumni Association Certificate of Merit and Presidential Academic Fitness Award.
  •  Jonathan Lapp, son of Nathan and Sherilyn Lapp, Gap, Scholar Athlete Award and Presidential Academic Fitness Award.
  • Nicole E. Leaman, daughter of J. David and Jewel Leaman, Lancaster, World Language Department Award and Presidential Academic Fitness Award.
  • Garrett Miller, son of Danny and Cheryl Miller, Lancaster, Alumni Association Certificate of Merit and Good Citizenship Award.
  • Brooke Phipps, daughter of David and Kim Phipps, Grantham, Social Studies Department Award and Presidential Academic Fitness Award.
  • Bethany Rudy, daughter of Dan and Betsy Rudy, Leola, Family and Consumer Sciences Department Award and Presidential Academic Fitness Award.
  • Kyle Siegfried, son of Frederick and Julie Siegfried, Lancaster, Physical Education Department Award and Presidential Academic Fitness Award.
  • Lisa Weaver, daughter of L. Keith and Joanne Weaver, Reinholds, Alumni Association Certificate of Merit and English Department Award.
  • Taylor Wenger, daughter of Cliff and Carol Wenger, New Holland, Alumni Association Certificate of Merit and Presidential Academic Fitness Award.

Nineteen underclassmen also received awards: junior Curtis Ranck, LMH Ebenezer Award; sophomore Audra Mylin, Achievement Award; junior Sean Criswell, Growth Award.

Sophomore Andrew Kauffman and junior Saier Zeng received American Mathematics awards. Three students received PA Math League awards: Isaac King, Highest Freshman Score; DaEun Jung, Highest Sophomore Score; and Kyle Kreider, Highest Junior Score.

Juniors receiving the Alumni Association Certificate of Merit: Janell Baliles, Kristen Garber,  Carissa Harnish, Emily Horst, Tanner Horst, Kyle Kreider, Matthew Lauver, Jason Sauder, Jason Spicher, and Zachary Zook. Sophomores receiving the Alumni Association Certificate of Merit: Danielle Campbell, Benjamin Kennel, Olivia Mast, Lauren Sauder, Morgan Steffy, Samuel Stoner and Danielle Weaver.
