LMH basketball all-stars shine

Four LMH basketball players were named to section and district all-star teams during a successful season that saw both the girls and boys teams finish second in District III and enter the state AA playoffs where the girls went as far as the quarterfinals. The boys were Section 4 runners-up and the girls were Section 4 champions.

Erin LaVenice, a 1,000-point career scorer, and Steph Rheinheimer, were both named to the Section 4 first team and to the District III AA All-tournament Team Starting Five. LaVenice was also selected for the overall Lancaster-Lebanon League first team.

Phil Yoder and Dean Royal shared similar success in being selected for the Section 4 first team and to the District III AA All-tournament Team Starting Five. Yoder was also selected for the overall Lancaster-Lebanon League first team. Jon Lapp was named to the L-L coaches' all-defensive team.

Coach Sherri Gorman was named Coach of the Year for Section 4 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League with a 24-6 record. Gorman earned her 100th career win on Thursday, January 21. Last year her team won their section title, league championship, and was second in districts before advancing to the state quarter finals.  For the boys team, Geoff Groff was named Coach of the Year for Section 4 of the L-L League.
