Andrew Keener named girls soccer coach
Lancaster Mennonite School has named Andrew Keener as head coach of the varsity girls soccer team. Keener previously headed the JV program under four-year head coach Dale Stoltzfus (81-18-4), who stepped down due to a schedule conflict when girls soccer moved to the fall season.
Keener takes over a program that has won 14 Section titles, four League titles, two District titles, a State Championship in 2008, and a runner-up finish in 2009.
"I am ready for a new challenge and am grateful for the opportunity that has been given to me,” commented Keener. “(Dale) Stoltzfus is an amazing coach and he has left some big shoes to fill. I have learned a lot from him and I am confident in my ability to lead this team in the future.”
Lancaster Mennonite Athletic Director Mike Yoder believes Andrew will provide the program with “a familiar face and smooth transition.”
"We are confident that he will continue to help mold and nurture our student athletes both on and off the field,” Yoder added.
Keener began as a volunteer soccer coach for both the boys and girls teams during the 2007-08 school year. He became the head JV coach for both programs in 2009.
Keener played soccer at Millersville University for two years before transferring to West Chester University where he received his bachelor’s degree in 2006. He currently works as a physical education teacher in the Columbia Borough School District. He and his wife, Emilie, reside in Lancaster.
