Peirson to Play for Universtiy of Iowa

Lancaster Mennonite senior Danielle Peirson has signed a letter of intent to play Division I field hockey at the University of Iowa.
Peirson, daughter of Donald and Beth Peirson, Conestoga, finished her senior season as a section all star and tallied 31 goals with 23 assists for her career. Lancaster Mennonite coach Cicely Berkey commented on Peirson saying, “Something that sets Danielle apart is her focus and drive both on and off the field. She strives to not only just get the job done, but get it done well.”
When commenting on why Iowa was a good fit, Peirson said “I liked the people and opportunities for student athletes and I really liked their facilities and am excited to be part of such a quality program.” Academically, she plans to study elementary education.
Peirson will step into a highly successful program that most recently advanced to the NCAA final four in 2008 and competes in the Big Ten Conference.
