Two LMH Seniors awarded athletic scholarships
Lancaster Mennonite High School seniors Katie Andrews and Rachel Dickinson recently were awarded athletic scholarships to play field hockey. Their strong defensive skills contributed significantly to the team being second in the Lancaster-Lebanon League this year.

Andrews, daughter of Randall and Christine Andrews, Lancaster, will play Division I at Penn State University. During her junior and senior years at Lancaster Mennonite, she was a rusher on defensive corners as well as the assist and striker on offensive corners. She served as a team captain during her senior year.
In 2009, Andrews received first team L-L League All-Star honors as well as second team All-State. In 2010 she was elected to the L-L All League team and to the first team All-State. Coach Cicely Berkey says Andrews is a natural born leader.
"She is focused, determined, and has the kind of work ethic that inspires teammates as well as coaches," Berkey said. "It’s exciting to see her achieve her dream of playing Division I hockey."

Dickinson, daughter of David and Jennifer Dickinson, Millersville, will play Division II at Millersville University. At Lancaster Mennonite, Dickinson started on varsity her sophomore year as a defender, and continued to hold that spot for her remaining high school years. She was a captain her senior year.
In 2008 she received honors as an Honorable Mention L-L League All-Star, in 2009 was a second team L-L League All-Star, and in 2010 was named to L-L All-League Team.
Coach Berkey says Dickson leads by example both on and off the field.
“She took the time to help teach teammates and work to make everyone better as players and people, including herself ,” Berkey said. “I wish her the best as she moves on to play at Millersville.”
