Two LMS students win first place in journalism contest

Two Lancaster Mennonite School students received first place awards in the Newspaper in Education (NIE) Journalism Contest. They will receive a cash award, and their writings and photos will appear in the March 6 NIE edition of the Intelligencer Journal/New Era.

Journalism student Maria Waterfield, grade 10, won the 10th grade editorial writing contest. She is the daughter of Charles and Susan Waterfield, Lancaster.

Kraybill Campus fourth grader Zachary Lees, son of Gregory and Lisa Lees, Mount Joy, is a first place winner in the elementary section of the contest.

Waterfield and Lees are two of 15 first place winners out of 2,400 entries.
