Student PMEA Honors

Five Lancaster Mennonite School students have been selected to participate in the Pa. Music Educator Association (PMEA) District 7 music festivals this winter.
Eric Umble, son of Ronald and Diane Umble, Lancaster, earned first in clarinet and second chair for the District 7 Band Festival which will be held January 10-12 at Warwick High School.         
Umble also qualified for the orchestra festival (second in clarinet), along with junior Devin Troy (violin), daughter of Jeffrey and Lisa Troy, Lancaster, and sophomore Andrea Mast (violin), daughter of Dan and Cindy Mast, Willow Street. The orchestra festival will be held January 24-26 at Dallastown High School. Over 1000 students from eight local counties auditioned for chairs in District 7 band and orchestra.

Qualifying for District 7 Chorus Festival are junior Margaret Nicholas (first in soprano 1), daughter of David and Susan Nicholas, Lancaster, and senior Hana Grosh (13th for soprano 1), daughter of Jerrold and Ann Grosh, Lancaster. The festival is set for February 7-9 at Middletown High School. About 900 students in the District auditioned for the chorus from which  25 were chosen for each voice part.
