All-State PMEA Awards

Three Lancaster Mennonite High School juniors have been selected for the 2008 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State music festivals which will be held at Hershey during the PMEA State Conference.

Eric Umble (clarinet), son of Ronald and Diane Umble, Lancaster, has been selected for the All-State Band Festival. Devin Troy (violin), daughter of Jeffrey and Lisa Troy, Lancaster, has been selected for the All-State Orchestra Festival. Maggie Nicholas (first in soprano 1), daughter of David and Susan Nicholas, Lancaster, has also been selected for the All-State Chorus Festival.

A public concert will be held at the Hershey Theatre on Saturday, April 19, at 4 p.m. According to high school music teacher John Miller, "this is a whole different level of competition."

"I think it is an honor and a great credit to the work these three students have been doing throughout their high school music careers," he said.

At Lancaster Mennonite, Bill Mitten directs the band program, Durelle Leaman directs the orchestra/strings program, and John Miller directs the choral program.
