Lancaster Mennonite High School senior Jason Sauder, son of Donald and Twila Sauder, Mount Joy, has been awarded an athletic scholarship to play Division I golf at Charleston Southern University.

At Lancaster Mennonite, Sauder helped his golf team win the section championship all four years and was the school’s Most Valuable Player in 2009 and 2010.

In 2009 Sauder won the Section 3 scoring title, had the lowest average in the Lancaster-Lebanon League, tied for first in the Lancaster-Lebanon League championship (finished second after the playoff), advanced to the second round of Districts, and qualified for Regionals.

In 2010, Sauder tied for first at Districts (finished second after the playoff) and also qualified for both Regionals and States.

Coach Deryl Denlinger recently praised Sauder for his strong leadership at Lancaster Mennonite.

“You led by example in your work ethic, your attitude and your performance on the course,” Denlinger told Sauder. “I am delighted that you have decided to accept the challenge of Division I golf.”
