Spelling Bee Finalists

Kraybill 8th graders Lydia Jones, Aria Hess and Robert Cooke placed first, second and third in Lancaster Mennonite School’s annual spelling bee that was held at the Kraybill Campus on January 26. The event included middle school students from the Kraybill, Locust Grove and Lancaster campuses of Lancaster Mennonite School.

Lydia Jones and Aria Hess are two of 32 finalists in the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era spelling bee contest. They will represent the school on Friday, March 26, (Snow date is March 27) at the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era Championship Spelling Bee at Manheim

To qualify as finalists, they took a written test Wednesday, February 24, at Manheim Township Middle School. Earlier, on January 26, they finished first and second at Lancaster Mennonite’s school-wide middle school spelling bee that included middle school students from the Kraybill, Locust Grove and Lancaster campuses of Lancaster Mennonite School.

Lydia Jones is the daughter of Brian and Elizabeth Jones, Salunga, and Aria Hess is the daughter of Scott and Lisa Shenk, Mount Joy.
