Spring Concert
The Lancaster Mennonite High School music department will present its spring concert Sunday, May 18, at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center. The concert will feature the Campus Chorale, Junior Chorale, concert band, orchestra, string ensemble, flute ensemble and jazz band.
Following is a sampling of the program.- Junior Chorale: "Agnus Dei” by Francisco Núñez, “Amazing Grace” arr. by Stephen Hatfield, “For the Beauty of the Earth” by John Rutter, “Jubilence” by Linda Spevacek, “The Storm is Passing Over” arr. by Barbara Baker, and “Consider Yourself” (from Oliver) by Lionel Bart (arr. by John Leavitt).
- Campus Chorale: “The Dream Isaiah Saw” by Glenn Rudolph, “Laudate Dominum” by Mozart (featuring LMH junior Maggie Nicholas), “Rock-a-My Soul” arr. by Kirby Shaw (featuring Alanna Hiller as soloist), and “And So it Goes” by Billy Joel (arr. by Bob Chilcott).
- Strings: Zampa Overture by Ferdinand Herold (arr. by McLeod), Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Brahms (arr. Isaac), “Nobody knows the trouble I've seen” arr. by Carrie Lane Gruselle, and “Finale” (the Dargason) from St. Paul's Suite - Holst.
- Orchestra: Radetsky Marc by Strauss, arr. by Isaac; Symphony No. 4, Third Movement by Brahms, arr. by Leidig; and Symphony No. 5, Finale by Beethoven, arr. by Leidig.
- Concert band: Selections from “Grease,” arr. by Ted Ricketts; “Pirates of the Caribbean” arr. by John Wasson; and “The Lion King” arr. by John Higgens.
- Flute ensemble: “Vive Nameur Do Tot” (Belgian Folk Song) arr. Jim Engebretson; Minuet by Mozart, arr. by James Power; and “Rag Doll” arr. by James Power.
- Jazz band: “Let It Shine” (“This Little Light of Mine”) arr. by James Hosay; “Respect” arr. by Roger Holmes, featuring Hana Grosh; and “Rock This Town,” arr. by Paul Murtha.
