Bybel third in state tennis

Lancaster Mennonite High School freshman Nick Bybel finished third in the PIAA AA Tennis Tournament that was held Saturday, May 23, at Hershey Racquet Club.

On Friday, Bybel defeated Jeff Del Presto, a senior from Sewickley Academy, 6-0, 6-0. In one of Saturday’s semifinals, Bybel fell to eventual state champion Harrison Abrams of Harriton (suburban Philadelphia), 6-0, 6-1. In the third place match, he defeated Tim McGurrin of Scranton Prep, 6-1, 4-6,

6-4.

Bybel, who remained undefeated in the regular season, won the Lancaster-Lebanon League Class AA tennis crown in April when he shut out Pequea Valley senior Josh Riehl, 6-0, 6-0. Bybel also won the District 3 championship on May 6 at Hershey Racquet Club when he defeated Sean McAusland of Wyomissing, 6-4, 6-0.

Nick is the son of Nicholas and Ann Bybel, Lancaster.
