For sophomores and juniors
The 2008 Pennsylvania Governor’s Schools of Excellence are five-week, residential summer programs for high school students. The programs, offered on college campuses, provide hands-on experience in the agricultural sciences, the arts, global entrepreneurship, health care, international studies, information technology, the sciences, and teaching. Room and board, tuition, classroom materials and activities are covered by full scholar-ships. Current sophomores and juniors may apply. For applications and more information, stop by the guidance office or go online to www.pgse.org. Students applying for 2008 Governor’s School programs must have their materials completed and submitted to Mr. Hess before Christmas.

Pick up a flyer in the guidance office or call (717) 390-7660. Both ACT and the College Board have excellent test prep resources on their web site. College/scholarship Web sites
The following Web sites provide valuable information on colleges and scholarships:

    Scholarships
Sources of scholarships for college include the following:

    1. The college the student attends. Usually the college will notify the student of any scholarship for which the student may be eligible.
    2. National agencies and organizations which are somehow related to the student’s intended area of study or wish to award some aspect of the student's activities and achievements. For these scholarships, the web sites noted above are excellent sources of information.
    3. Local businesses, foundations and service organizations. For these, students should check the school's scholarship files, along with information from their local district school guidance office, local libraries or parents' employers
