Picture retake day
Picture retake day will be Monday, November 5. This day is for anyone who missed the first picture day. Students dissatisfied with pictures taken the first day must return the entire photo packet to the photographer for a retake. All students, except seniors, are required to have their picture taken, even if the student chooses not to purchase.
Entertainment Book still available
Copies of the Entertainment Book are still available. Call Student Council adviser Tim Yoder at ext. 380. These make great Christmas gifts as well.


Student roster

Rosters were available at the first Parents Meeting. If you did not receive one, they are available at the school office for $1.0

HIGH SCHOOL


Quiz Bowl
Quiz Bowl season will begin Monday, October 15, with league matches occurring one or two Mondays per month. Quiz Bowl will be competing on Channel 8’s Brainbusters with a match taped on Wed., Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. Visitors and spectators are welcome at the studio for this contest which will air on WGAL at a later date.


Yearbooks can now be purchased online!
The website is http://www.jostensyearbooks.com. Enter the state, city, and school name and use your credit card to order. The price will be $35 through October 18. After this date, the price will increase to $40. Give your cash or check to Jane Moyer, Lydia Ramer Hunter, Seth Charles, or the office and make sure to include the student’s name with payment. Checks should be made payable to Laurel Wreath—LMS.


Sophomore class social
All sophomores are invited to a fall sophomore social on
November 1, 6–9 p.m. at the Lancaster Campus.


Shadow Day for juniors—November 30
On Shadow Day each junior class member will follow someone who is in an occupation/career that the student may be interested in pursuing. The goal of this activity is to give students an exposure to the daily work routine, learn about the training needed and explore employment opportunities for the occupation. This experience can be valuable for students as they choose a career after high school or college. Shadow Day is planned for Friday, November 30, and is required for all juniors. Students will receive information about Shadow Day during advisory groups on Wednesday, November 7.


Minicourses
A reminder that minicourses are scheduled for May 27–30. During those days, high school students will enjoy unique out-of-the-classroom opportunities for hands-on learning, service, and developing deeper relationships with God and each other.
In January, students will be expected to sign up for one of the school-offered minicourses. If you are interested in helping with a minicourse or need more information, contact Duane Evans at (717) 299-0436, ext. 389.


Chess schedule change
Veritas Academy will not have a team in the chess league this year. Garden Spot has rejoined the league for the season. That means LMS will be playing at Garden Spot on November 27, and Garden Spot will be playing at LMS on January 8.

The Robe—auditions

Auditions for The Robe, the high school winter play, will be held October 29–31 and November 1. Audition information will be available by Monday, October 15. Any students wishing to audition should sign up with Mr. Sauder in room 505. Mr Sauder can reached at saudermd@lancastermennonite.org or at (717) 299-0436, ext. 372.

Blood drive
The Central Pa. Blood Drive will be held Friday, November 2. Students 17 and older may donate blood. Parent permission forms will be given to students who want to participate.


Senior class notes:   
• October 17: Seniors will have a social in the gym during testing time for underclassmen.
• November 9: senior masquerade, location to be decided
• November 29 & 30: Senior class trip to Washington, D. C. Buses will leave from LMH promptly at 6:00 Thursday morning and return approximately 8:30 Friday evening. Seniors who are not going on the class trip and have not made prior excused absence arrangements are expected to attend school.

Driver education (Behind-the-Wheel)
Six hours of instruction are available to students with learner's permits or licenses. Students are placed on a rotating schedule so they miss a different set of classes each time they drive. Applications are available at the office. The cost is $210.


Pizza & Praise Evening
Friday morning Bible study leaders will host a Pizza & Praise Evening, Sunday, November 4, 6–9 p.m. in Gym A. LMH students are welcome as well as high school students from other schools.
