Looking Ahead for:
Kraybill Campus
International Day
An International Day again has been planned for this Friday, April 25. Activities have been selected to help draw students’ attention to the global nature of our world and especially God’s presence among all people and nations. A special all school assembly will feature a choir from an inner city school in Lancaster.
Hoagie sale
Last month’s hoagie sale yielded $20,000 toward the installation of a DVD projector in the Meetinghouse and toward the capital campaign to renovate the entrance to the school. A big thank you to the many parents who supported the fundraiser by helping their children sell hoagies and for volunteering to assemble the sandwiches. Congratulations to top sales person Jacob Dukeman, third grader, for selling over 300 hoagies.
Site Council Nominees Welcomed
The terms of Site Council members Rose Baer and Shari Wolgemuth are ending with the May 15 meeting. The terms are for three years and include attending five meetings in September, November, January, March, and May. All present Kraybill families are eligible to serve, pending board approval. Please submit names of Kraybill parents who could serve in this capacity to Principal John Weber by April 30. Site Council serves as a parent advisory role to the principal in the operation of the Kraybill Campus.
International Volunteer from China—host needed
Arrangements have been made for the school to sponsor Yuan Yuan Wong from Nan Chong, China. The international volunteer serves as a teacher assistant and shares cultural lessons with students. Please consider this opportunity to extend Christian hospitality to a volunteer from another nation and build bridges of enriching friendship for many years. Two families are needed for a half year.
Urgent Need for Bus Driver
The school has an opening for a bus driver for the E-town/Lancaster route beginning in August. If the applicant does not have a CDL license and bus driver certificate, the school will pay for the training to receive certification. For more information and an application contact John Weber, principal, at 653-5236 or weberjs@lancastermennonite.org.
Reporting Student Absences
As a reminder, parents/caregivers must call, visit the school web-site or email the school on the day of the absence with the reason for the student’s absence. Except for a prior-scheduled education trip excuse, any absence not reported on the day of the absence will automatically become an unexcused absence.
Volunteers Needed in Media Center
Media Center coordinator Mary Bucher needs parent volunteers to help with year-ending book inventory. Please contact her at 653-5236, ext. 136, or buchermk@lancastermennonite.org if you can volunteer anytime Thursday, May 15, through Thursday, May 29. Tasks include inventory, reshelving books, dusting shelves, and repairing books.
