Locust Grove Campus

Book Week
Tuesday, January 22 through Friday, January 25 is Book Week, a time to focus on the importance and joy of reading. Each day students and teachers will have a time for DEAR—Drop Everything and Read—and there are other special activities planned throughout the week including the Scholastic Book Sale (new books) in the commons area on Thursday and Friday. As in past years, families will have the opportunity to purchase and donate books to the school from teachers’ “wish lists.”

Family Fun Night—mark calendar for March 8!
Family Fun Night, originally scheduled for January 25, has been moved to Saturday, March 8, to be part of the Soup/Salad/Sundae fundraiser. This new joint event will be a wonderful Locust Grove community activity that brings us together as a school family. Volunteers are needed to help. Please call Starla Landis (393-7778).

Valentine service outreach
The Valentine service outreach activity this year will be the Heifer Project. The goal is to raise $3,000 toward purchasing a variety of farm animals for impoverished third world villages. A kick-off chapel will be held Monday, January 28.

Roller skating event—new location
The final roller skating event of the year will be held at the Castle Rink on Saturday, February 9, 4:30–6:30 (location is a change from the school calendar).

Charlotte’s Web
The middle school is presenting Charlotte’s Web on Friday and Saturday, February 22 and 23, at 7 p.m. This will be an enjoyable time of family entertainment and a great way to support our middle school program. An offering will be received in lieu of tickets.

Volunteers needed for auction/calendar change
The auction committee is still in need of volunteers, particularly with solicitation of donations. Please call Jan Mast at 393-6806. Please note that the auction will be a one-day event this year (set for Friday, April 25), a change from the school calendar.

Achievement tests
Test results will be sent home with third quarter report cards on March 28.
