Looking Ahead for:

Kraybill Campus

Pastors Luncheon
The Pastors Luncheon held Wednesday, February 20, was attended by 82 pastors (including several spouses). Attendance was up from previous years indicating the value pastors give to supporting the children of their congregations. The school believes it is important for the church to better understand how the school enhances the mission of their congregations..

Scholastic Art Exhibition
The 2008 Scholastic Art Exhibition is being held until March 30 at the Lancaster Museum of Art. This year Kraybill Campus has 23 pieces in the show. Gold and Silver Key winners are on exhibit at 135 North Lime Street (weekdays 10-5, Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 12:00–4:00). The Honorable Mentions can be viewed at the museum’s satellite location at 215 North Queen Street. The exhibition includes all accepted pieces from Lancaster County schools, public and private, grades 6-12. Visitors to the exhibit will discover that Kraybill has six students with silver key awards and 20 honorable mentions. Admission is free.

Grandparents Day
Grandparents Day is set for Wednesday, April 2, in kindergarten and grade three. This is an excellent opportunity for children to share a common experience in the school setting with grandparents. In the event a student does not have a local grandparent, parents are encouraged to join the event.

Spring Interscholastic Sports
Your support and prayers for the spring sports players and coaches in the upcoming season will be appreciated. Blaine Gorman and Mark Ashley will coach girls soccer, and Mike Book and Nate Rush plan to coach boys softball.

Spring Music Program
The Spring Music Program by grades 4 & 5 is planned for Friday, April 11, at 7 p.m. Practices are underway for the musical drama, Joseph and the Dream Team Xtreme by J. Rouse and directed by Mrs. Weaver. Plan now to attend this enjoyable intermediate grade event.

All-Campus Student Assembly
An all-campus student assembly focusing on the Easter event and planned by the faculty will be held for the first time on Wednesday, March 29. The purpose of the assembly is to raise the significance of the Easter event at school and reinforce the congregations’ and parents’ efforts at understanding Christ’s life, death and resurrection for our lives.

Class Sections
The next year’s class sections are normally formed during April and May. Forming sections is decided by the teachers and the principal, taking into account gender balance, diversity of student abilities and social dynamics (classroom/playground). Please refrain from requesting certain teachers unless there are special circumstances to be considered. The school deeply appreciates the cooperation and respect parents/caregivers have given the school in this process each year.

Host Family Needed for International Volunteer
The school needs two families to host our 2008-09 international volunteer beginning in August. Over the years, our students and parents have been enriched by persons from other countries living and working among the Kraybill school community. Please give consideration to hosting next year’s volunteer; contact Principal John Weber at 653-5236 or weberjs@lancastermennonite.org.
