Looking Ahead for:
Kraybill Campus
Kraybill Benefit Auction
Preliminary figures show gross receipts over $145,000. We praise God for the many generous supporters who attended both the pork roast dinner and the merchandise auction. The net proceeds go toward the annual fund. Special thanks to all the volunteers, especially Brad and Natalie Wagner and Lolly and Ron Kratz for giving leadership to the auction committee.
Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony
On Wednesday, June 3, there will be an 8:45 ceremony celebrating the passage of our 8th graders from middle to high school. Parents and friends are invited to join the 6th & 7th graders in recognizing our 8th grade class.
Kraybill Campus End-of-Year Rollerskating
All students are invited to a night of rollerskating at The Castle in Lancaster on Thursday, May 21, from 6:00-8:30 p.m. The cost is $1.75 for student admission and $2.00 for skate rental. This is a school- sponsored Parent-Teacher Fellowship time of fun and friendship building. The Castle is located behind WGAL on Columbia Ave. Turn right on Elm Street and drive to the end of the street. Students of all grades and their parents/caregivers are welcome. The activity is limited to current Kraybill Campus students.
Hershey Park Program Contributes to Kraybill
Kraybill parent Allison Young has offered to coordinate a program with Hershey Park whereby park employee’s wages will be given to the school and the employee receives a voucher. Kraybill Campus is now registered with Hershey Park in a program that will contribute financially to the school and give you a voucher to the park as well. Hershey Park will give Allison Young certain dates that employees are needed to work at the park or stadium. Most of the shifts are for one voucher, but sometimes they offer two vouchers depending on the shift. Please contact Allison at 367-9279 or Foreveryoung03@comcast.net to volunteer at Hershey Park and receive a park voucher with your wages being donated to Kraybill Campus.
Bus Driver Openings
Kraybill Campus is in urgent need of two bus drivers. One driver is needed for a regular student route and another for the direct E-town to Lancaster Campus route. The school will pay for the training and licensing for persons who do not have the bus driver certification. For more information or an application contact Principal John Weber at 653-5236 or weberjs@lancastermennonite.org.
Gateway to Kraybill Campus
Contributions to the Gateway to Kraybill Campus Capital Campaign are needed to help accommodate current early childhood enrollment and build for the future. Currently, enrollment for PreK and kindergarten has reached its maximum with students on a waiting list. The Gateway Campaign seeks $1.2 million to add a PreK classroom, enlarge the entrance lobby, increase student security and connect elementary buildings. The Lancaster Mennonite School advancement office has begun making individual contacts to the community on behalf of this campaign.
End of Year Report Cards
Starting this year, student report cards will be sent home in the US mail rather than with students on the last day of school. Mailing report cards at the end of the year avoids embarrassing a student who does not receive a report card due to outstanding tuition balances. Report cards can be expected a couple days beyond the last day.
Host Families Needed
Kraybill Campus has an urgent need for two families to host this year’s international volunteer from Egypt. Each family provides lodging and food for half the school year August–January and February–May. Please prayerfully consider responding to this opportunity to provide Christian hospitality and develop a rich cross-cultural friendship. Call 653-5236 or e-mail to weberjs@lancastermennonite.org for more information.
Parent Night
Sylvia Weaver, teacher of the Kraybill Campus elementary Challenge classes, recently held a parent night with numerous awards going to students. A plaque was presented to 5th grader Bryce Yoder for the “Best of Show.” Bryce's project was an animation of 3,500 drawings to make a 15-minute cartoon skit complete with sound effects. Tim Hoover, an animator for Mennonite Central Committee, was Bryce's mentor.
Others receiving blue ribbon awards were Roman Wagner, grade 4, “Comparisons of Homemade and Commercial Ice Cream;” Anna Farmer, grade 4, “American Dolls and the Great Depression;” Lauren Becker, grade 4, “Alpacas;” Alexis Waltz, grade 3, “Fashion Through The Ages;” Andrew Nell, grade 3, “The Underground Railroad;” Olivia Lechene, grade 3, “Charles Schultz and His Peanuts Characters;” Lauren Novosat, grade 2, “Butterflies;” Natalie Fellenbaum, grade 2, “Horses and Ponies;” Kyler Enck, grade 2, “Dragonflies;” and Kayla Azaroff, grade 2, “Horse Communication.”
