Auction
Thanks to everyone who helped make our auction a wonderful success! Over $57,000 was raised for the LMS Annual Fund. A special thank you to Jeff Shank, auction coordinator, the chair persons of each committee, and Mrs. Ashley and Mrs. Burkhart for their hours of work in the office, receiving and organizing donations and putting together the auction booklet.
Thank You, Volunteers
Thanks to volunteers who contributed 90 hours in April and to everyone who has faithfully served the school in this way throughout the year.
Spring Program
Join us for our 4th–6th grade year-end band and choral concert on Thursday, May 21, at 7 p.m. The event will be presented with New Danville in the Calvin and Janet High Fine Arts Center, Lancaster Campus. This will be a wonderful evening of celebrating the achievements of our students and God’s gift of music!
Site Council Members
Locust Grove welcomes nominees for the Parent Site Council. All present Locust Grove families are eligible to serve, pending board approval. Your suggestions for council members can be given to Judi Mollenkof, principal, by May 29. The council serves in an advisory capacity and meets four times a year.
Field Day
Middle school field day will be held Friday, May 29, and Elementary Field Day will be held the morning of the last day of school on Wednesday, June 3. More information will be sent home with class letters.
Chapel and 8th Grade Promotion
The final all-school chapel of the year will be held Friday, May 29, at 9:15 a.m.. This will be a time to celebrate the year and honor our 8th graders; parents are invited. Everyone is also invited to 8th Grade Promotion which will be held on Tuesday evening, June 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Please remember the class in prayer as they transition to high school.
Summer Tutoring
Research shows students often lose valuable reading and math skills over the summer vacation. To reduce the amount of this loss and to gain additional momentum, Jessica Newswanger, third grade teacher at the Locust Grove campus, is offering summer tutoring. Several flexible programs will be offered for students in grades 2-5 which can meet a variety of summer schedules. The 2008-09 yearbook will be a memory book including class pictures of activities from the year. By using this new format the cost will be reduced from $15.00 to $5.00. Students may purchase the book from their homeroom teachers the last week of school.
Report Cards
Report Cards will be mailed home the week of June 15. All outstanding bills must be paid in full to receive a report card.

Summer Hours
Summer office hours are 9:00–12:00 daily beginning the week of June 8.
2009-10 School Year Mailing
There will be a mid-summer mailing which will include student homeroom assignments and a supplies list as well as other information about the 2009-10 school year. Please note the following dental and physical examination requirements before students begin classes in the fall:
- Kindergarten students need both dental and physical.
- Grades three and seven require dental forms.
- Grade six requires a physical form.
