1955 Class Reunion

The 1955 class held their 55th class reunion October 19 and 20, 2010, at Black Rock. We spent overnight at Black Rock and then met at LMH where classmate John Rutt shared his family’s involvement in the development of the Rutt Academic Center. Richard Thomas and Marlin Groff gave us a tour of the Center. We enjoyed a delicious meal at LMH catered by Dottie Weber followed by a program.

Our story telling at Black Rock had two dimensions. First, we shared what happened in the last five years. A recurrent theme was the grace of God as well as the wide variety of engagements that we are involved in and the sense of challenge and joy that accompanies our retirement years.

Then several shared about events in their lives over the past 70 plus years that have helped to form the directions our lives have taken. Several shared very deeply and meaningfully.

Our class motto is “Forward in Faith” and our class song and poem are confessions about our faith in Christ and the abundant life he offers. Our anniversary was a time to linger reflectively on the relevance and also challenges to that faith commitment in the ups and downs of life. Many said they were refreshed and encouraged as we met and shared together.

Thirty-five classmates, five non-graduates and 19 spouses attended. Our class presented Richard Thomas with a money gift for student aid.
