The 150-voice Mennonite Children’s Choir of Lancaster will perform its spring concerts series at the following locations: 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at Willow Street Mennonite Church; 6 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Weaverland Mennonite Church, East Earl; 7 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at the Leffler Chapel and Performing Arts Center, Elizabethtown College ; 4 p.m., May 3, at James Street Mennonite Church, Lancaster; 7 p.m., Sunday, May 9, at Stumptown Mennonite Church, Bird-in-Hand.

The choir includes: Carol Choir (grades 2-5), Concert Choir (grades 6-8) and Chamber Choir (grades 9-12), led by artistic directors Darlene Hein and Rosemary Blessing. The artistic directors use the phrase, “music from around the world and across time” to describe the choir’s repertoire. However, because the choir will also be performing at Mennonite World Conference in Harrisburg this summer, much of their music this spring will represent America and American music.

The mission of MCCL is training children and youth to glorify Jesus Christ through excellent choral singing. In addition to the choirs, MCCL has a Men’s Ensemble directed by Jonathan Shoff and a Prelude Music program for children in kindergarten through grade 2, directed by Dot Smith. The choirs and the Prelude Music program are open to children from all church backgrounds and are sponsored by Lancaster Mennonite School.

All the concerts are open to the public. Tickets are not required, but a freewill offering will be received. More information can be found at www.mennonitechildrenschoir.org, by emailing mccl@lancastermennonite.org or by calling 717-455-7025.
