2024 Commencement
The Senior Class Commencement will take place June 1 at 10 a.m. in the Calvin & Janet High Fine Arts Center.
Commencement will be preceded by a Senior Class Dedication service Friday night, May 31 at 7 p.m., in the same location. The student speakers are Nathan Bowman, Ilse Ness, and Claire Thomas.
Commencement Speaker
Freeman M. Chakara, PsyD, ABN-FACPN; ABPP/ABCN, Clinical Neuropsychologist and Founder of Providence Behavioral Health, will deliver the commencement address to the class of 2024. He was born and raised in Zimbabwe, lived in Calgary Canada for two years, and then earned a B.A. in Communications from Toccoa Falls College in Georgia and a doctor of psychology degree from Widener University. He is Board Certified in Clinical Neuropsychology and taught University at bachelor’s and doctoral levels, including at George Fox University and Lancaster Bible College. He has clinical experience from his work at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, University of Pennsylvania – Lancaster General Hospital, Samaritan Counseling Center, Conestoga Valley School District, and CCA. He is currently CEO & Clinical Director and provides neuropsychological services at the practice he founded, Providence Behavioral Health. And he currently serves on the Boards of American Home Life International and LANCO Federal Credit Union.
The Class verse is Matthew 5: 1-12
Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.
The Beatitudes
He said:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
The Class of 2024 will be lead by Delmaris Nunez, President; Tessa Armstrong, Vice President; Rarta Shewangizaw and Abigiya Samuel Wondwossen, Treasurers; Hevin Khilo, Secretary.
