Lancaster Mennonite High School’s Quiz Bowl team recently placed second in WGAL-TV’s “Brain Busters” game show competition, falling to Carlisle High School in the televised championship match during a one-hour special broadcast from Whitaker Center in Harrisburg.

The LMS Quiz Bowl team had another strong year in the Lancaster-Lebanon League tournament, repeating as the second-place finishers, and had high hopes to win the top prize in the game show format after defeating some of the top teams in a 38-school field.

Since 2000, Brain Busters has entertained WGAL viewers throughout the Susquehanna Valley by putting the spotlight on the academic excellence of thousands of high school students. For Central PA high schools, Brain Busters is now a tradition and institution, featuring some of the best and brightest students.

The LMH team was composed of seniors Charlotte Schreyer, Emily Rosenfeld and Austin Sauder and sophomore Brandon Roe.

The team was coached by teachers Lisa Kreig and Galen Sauder. Sauder said, “I am impressed with this team of intelligent students. They are a strong team that works well together. The students have developed an awareness of their personal strengths as well as the strengths of their team. It was most exciting to watch them collaborate during the bonus questions of the 60-second lightening rounds. I look forward to the amazing things these students will discover in their futures.”
