Mrs. Snell and Mrs. Thomas are teaming up again this year to provide an eight-day after-school study session for the SATs!
Students will be working with a teacher in groups of 3 – 5 people covering SAT content, test taking strategies, and exam practice. We will focus our attention on effective use of the online study materials created by Khan Academy for the College Board.
Each 50-minute session will include either work with SAT math or the verbal sections of the SAT (reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and the essay component). Independent ‘homework’ and suggestions for study will be recommended but not required.
The workshop is timed to accommodate sports schedules and also prepare students for the SAT dates in November or December. Eight 50-minute sessions will be offered after school from 3:10-4 p.m. on October 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 26, 30, 31.
Students may sign up for individual sessions, but attendance is encouraged for the entire 8-day experience to maximize progress. Classes will run with a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 10 (5 per teacher at any given time) per session.
Content and practice resources will utilize official College Board material available freely online through Khan Academy. Students should bring the calculator they are planning to take to the exam, as well as paper and pencils. Chromebooks will be provided for online resources, but students are welcome to use personal devices instead.
$20 per session, $70 for four sessions or $125 for the entire 8-session workshop.
Payment is expected at or before the first session. Payment can be made by cash or check payable to Lancaster Mennonite School (LM) and mailed or dropped off at the school office. Registration is open until October 2.
