The teachers here
really care about you.
LM's teachers have had a positive impact on me.
LM's teachers cared about me. Teachers like, Mr. Duane Evans (AP Chem) and Mr. Jon Metzler have positively impacted me and helped prepare me after LM, as I am currently in Doctor of Pharmacy School studying at Purdue University.

LM has shaped me as a thoughtful Christ-follower.
The teachers in the high school are always willing to discuss topics without you outside of class and are willing to be challenged or questioned.
Through its constant provocation of spiritual thoughts and Biblical teachings, I feel that I have gained leadership skills, an identity, fervor for learning, and dedication to service from this special community. The atmosphere manages to retain a definite sense of fun, and the opportunities to get involved are endless.

Project-Based Learning taught me time management and problem solving skills
"My favorite part of Project-Based Learning (PBL) middle school was how interactive it was. As a hands on learner, Project-Based Learning helped me learn more quickly and in ways that were exciting to me. Project-Based learning prepared me for high school and the real world by teaching me time management and problem solving skills."

I appreciated the tie-in of academics, co-curriculars and spiritual life.
I surrounded myself with other strong students. I wanted to take classes with people who would drive me to be successful.

PBL students are collaborative, self-starters with strong communication skills.
"As a high school teacher I have noticed that students who are in or have come through the Project-Based Learning (PBL) Middle School are collaborative, self-starters. When broken into groups they quickly realize roles, and start to organize them with group members. They are strong communicators that can express their ideas well, and create very polished presentations for class projects."

LM is a place where diversity and service is important.
The variety of sports, clubs, and practical aspects of the school makes Lancaster Mennonite school stand out. The chapels are very enlightening, and spiritually enriching. I have grown in my relationship with God. I have become a better person. The diversity is what has made me love it even more. I have made friends from all around the world. I can truly see God working through my life in Lancaster Mennonite School.

At LM, there's no
pressure to "teach to the test."
Community, diversity and service.
When I reflect on my LM experience, these three concepts prove to be very significant. In addition to the dynamic academic environment LM has offered me, I have also been challenged to engage in a supportive community of students, celebrate diversity and pursue service opportunities.
Spending the first six year of my education at a different school, I am able to appreciate/evaluate LM in the context of other educational institutions. While most Christian schools are relatively small, I have found the size of LM to be a comfortable medium; large enough to offer a significant amount of opportunities and extra-curricular activities and small enough for every student to be acknowledged as more than a number.

Our daughter is thriving!
Our daughter is not only acquiring the vocabulary, but she is functional. This can be seen in the way she communicates over the phone with my parents and other family living in Argentina. She can express ideas and put thoughts together in order to coherently communicate rather than learning a word here or there and having to think really hard about how to put together a sentence. We see her able to translate her thoughts clearly, and in detail to my parents, and able to handle follow up questions, and explain for clarity.
She doesn't see things as happening in one language or the other, she let's life happen and uses these tools to explain to everyone her experience. My husband was concerned about math comprehension as she got older, but she sees numbers as another way of communication of different relationships, and understands the answer is, and the choice of language to answer in is for the listener, and isn't related to understanding the equation.
Honestly, we are very impressed with how grounded and functional the learning has been, and how she seems to thrive in the figuring out of things that may daunt others at this age, she simply asks why, and we set out to find out.

The seed planted in my soul at LM continues to blossom.
At my former school, I was just getting by with the bare minimum and not applying myself to my full potential. At LM, something clicked. I was intrigued by the delight the teachers had to teach their subjects and to teach me as a person. A seed was planted for learning and sharing with others. Thanks to LM, I went on to get a Bachelor's degree in social work and then a Master's degree (MSW) from Temple University. I also spent some time in Honduras to share what I learned with others. I can say wholeheartedly that I am truly blessed; the seed that was planted in my soul many years ago at LM continues to blossom.

LM teachers and administrators are a positive influence on our children.
They interact with them as mentors, not rule-enforcers. LM is a school system that encourages parent involvement and we feel we are part of a school family. LM challenges students to be role models to others and agents of change as world citizens. The best part about Lancaster Mennonite is the positive atmosphere. LM is small enough that everyone can be treated as an individual, but large enough to provide students with opportunities offered by bigger schools.

The education I received at LMH prepared me to succeed at an academically rigorous college like Franklin and Marshall.
Athletics were also an important part of my time at LMH, and I was part of some very successful teams. The benefits of good coaching and learning how to work as a team definitely extend into my career today. I feel the most important thing I took away from LMH was that the friendships I developed have extended well beyond my time spent there, which I really feel is unique in relation to other high schools... the network of Lancaster business professionals who are LMH alumni is a large group, and these leaders are active in their communities. This network of leaders has been a valuable resource in my life and my career since the day I graduated.

I’m very thankful for my host family and am especially thankful to my parents who gave me this opportunity.
Attending LM was a good choice for me. The school gave me a lot of opportunities to learn a different culture and improve my English, which is very important to my future. I made a lot of friends who helped me with the language and with the homework. The teachers and students are really nice; they’re friendly, and they help you if you don’t understand. I’m happy for my amazing friends in the school community that helped make my experiences here unforgettable.

LM has been my home since I first came here to the US in 2012.
The school has given me many opportunities to challenge myself as a leader and helped me to become a better person. I have been highly motivated by many people that I have great fortunes to meet from the faculty to the students. The variety of classes and organizations has also taught me many life lessons that I will treasure forever.

LM's welcoming community and skilled teachers has prepared me to pursue advanced music study and help students develop their talents.
“I still remember my first day at LM. I was afraid of the strange environment, I only knew my piano professor — Dr. Pan in the Advanced Music Program. As I gradually got to know the LM community, I started to not feel lonely anymore…because of them, I had a beautiful high school life.”
Jingjing’s experiences in LM’s Advanced Music Program left such a strong impact on her that she decided to study Music Education at Millersville University. Not only has she taught elementary students in her hometown of Xinjiang, she currently works as a student teacher at LM's elementary campus, assisting in music classes. “Creativity is at the heart of music making.” she says. “I enjoy every little moment in our music classroom; I am happy to see my students are improving and growing up healthy and happy. “
