Tuesday’s Theme: Plant Parts – We’ll read the story “Tops and Bottoms” and have a scavenger hunt for the parts of plants that we eat. After watering, weeding, and harvesting veggies from our garden, children will make a “plant parts salad!”
Wednesday’s Theme: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – Children will make their own watering cans from recycled materials so that they can water our garden and their own plants at home. They’ll also create new “seed” paper from recycled paper that they can plant at home!
Thursday’s Theme: Herbs – After exploring the smells around our garden and harvesting fresh herbs, children will make herbal playdough and fresh tea. Children will prepare a pizza lunch using fresh herbs.
Friday’s Theme: Pollinators – We will take a short walk to our neighboring orchard to learn about the work of pollinators and to pick our own fruit. Children will end the week with a “Pollinator Celebration Meal” that highlights the importance of pollinators to our food systems.
