1973 Class Reunion
The Class of ’73 held their 35th class reunion in the LMH Alumni Dining Hall on Saturday, October 11, 2008. Fifty classmates with their spouses, for a total of 87, met for an evening of informal casual fellowship and a cold buffet dinner.
Fellow classmate Bob Petersheim shared briefly with the class commenting that he overheard, “You haven’t changed at bit,” in conversations. Then he questioned whether changes might not be a bad thing after checking out yearbook pictures! On a more serious note, Bob observed that all have been through a myriad of experiences since walking the halls of LMH, but he challenged the class to hold onto the school motto that was painted across the front of the chapel, “Teach Me Thy Way, O Lord.”
Memories of sight were tested as classmates and spouses tried to identify a number of pictures of both classmates and faculty members taken from the yearbook and projected on the big screen. Then the memory of sound was stirred when short clips of various songs from the early 70s were played, including selections from The Choraleers, Daybreak a local band that involved three of the class’s members, and popular secular songs of the day. Spontaneous singing broke out as words to the music flooded back.
Throughout the evening a continuous Power Point slide presentation was shown on the large screen consisting of pictures submitted by classmates prior to the reunion. Photos included family pictures of children and grandchildren, trips to memorable places, unique activities by classmates, examples of hobbies, and pieces of information that helped everyone catch up with classmates. Informal fellowship continued until the doors needed to be locked and the building closed for the night.
