Lancaster, PA – Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society’s popular Annual Storytelling Night returns September 7, 2020, at 7 pm, featuring Dr. Pamela Tieszen, Superintendent of Lancaster Mennonite School, and Nelson Okanya, Global Missions President at the Center for Serving Leadership.
Told in a series of short-format stories, each storyteller relates personal anecdotes from richly varied life experiences. The event broadcasts exclusively on Facebook Live at facebook.com/lmhs.org.
As Superintendent of Lancaster Mennonite School, Dr. Tieszen manages three education campuses in Lancaster County. She previously served as vice president of advancement at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, and as head of school at Freeman Academy in Freeman, South Dakota, her home community. She attends Witmer Heights Mennonite Church.
Okanya was born in Migori, Kenya, and came to faith in his youth through the work of Mennonite mission workers in his community. Mr. Okanya chairs the Global Mission Fellowship and is vice-chair of the Missions Commission for the Mennonite World Conference. He is a former Executive Director of Eastern Mennonite Missions and is currently completing a Doctorate in Intercultural Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary.
