Summer “Camps-in-a-Box” 2020 – Registration now closed.

In addition to our Outdoor Athletic Summer Camps and Virtual Spanish Tutoring we are also now offering these Summer Camp-in-a-Box opportunities.

We’re sorry, but orders closed on June 25 at 11:59 p.m. for summer camps-in-a-box. We appreciate your interest.

There are six Summer Camp-In-A-Box options for kids from grades Kindergarten to 12th. Each box includes the supplies and instructions for students to explore a new interest fully self-paced from home. Boxes must be ordered by Thursday, June 25 and picked up on Monday, June 29 between 9 a.m. – 12 noon at the Rutt Building, Lancaster Campus (2176 Lincoln Hwy East, Lancaster). Alternate pick up date of Monday, July 6 for all boxes EXCEPT Garden Camp in a Box due to perishable items.

  • Cost per box: $40
  • All proceeds from boxes will go toward Student Financial Aid
  • All boxes must be paid for in advance by credit card through the online registration form

Camp #1:  Garden Camp in a Box (Grades K-5)

  • All supplies and ingredients included, some items need to be refrigerated
  • No computer/internet needed, but optional daily read aloud videos are included
  • Need outdoor access
  • Snack included for each day
  • 40-60 minutes per day

Day 1: Plant Parts Salad

  • Make a salad of plant parts
  • Make a mini-book
  • Read aloud video “Tops and Bottoms”

Day 2: Herbs

  • Herbal playdough
  • Mix-and-match loose leaf tea bags
  • Read aloud video “The Gardener”

Day 3: Eco Arts

  • All supplies included except scissors

  • Engagement time between 40-60 minutes or more depending on the choice of activities

  • Read a Puerto Rican folktale and a fact sheet about Coquis.
  • Learn some fun facts about Puerto Rico

Camp #4: ¡DINOSAURIOS! Spanish Camp in a Box (Grades 1-6)

This box includes all the supplies and instructions for five days focused on learning about dinosaurs for grades 1-6.

Camp #6: Unplugged STEAM Camp in a Box (Grades K-5)

  • 5 Days of Unplugged Fun
  • All Supplies, Instructions and Daily Snacks Included
  • Fully self-paced: about 30-60 minutes per day

Day 1: Build a Roller Coaster

  • Using your knowledge of gravity and friction, design and test a roller coaster that will carry a marble from top to bottom without falling.
  • Kit includes: instructions, marble, disposable plates, disposable cups, tape, snack

Day 2: Make Straw Rockets

  • Using what you know about forces of flight (thrust, drag, gravity, propulsion), design and test a paper and straw rocket that flies the farthest distance.
  • Kit includes: instructions, plastic straw, paper, rocket illustration, tape, snack

Day 3: Waterproof Critter Houses

  • Using your knowledge of waterproof materials and critter habitats, design and test a waterproof home for a critter that includes all the necessary things for that critter’s survival.

Day 4: Pool Noodle Party

  • Using your engineering knowledge, design and test a structure from pool noodle pieces and toothpicks.

  • Using what you know about pollination, design and test a “handheld pollinator”.
