1965 Class Reunion

REPORT FROM THE FIFTIETH REUNION

The Class of 1965 celebrated their 50th class reunion with the theme of “Launching with a Living Christ” at the Lancaster Campus on October 2, 2015, as part of Fall Festival and Homecoming. The afternoon started with campus tours, a reception and group photo prior to dinner and a short program in the Alumni Dining Hall. Most of the evening was spent finding classmates and socializing.

Helen Eckman Zimmerman reported, “We were blessed with having 102 class members present with 61 spouses and friends for a total of 163 for dinner.” During the dinner, the class enjoyed a Powerpoint presentation of old pictures and previous class reunions. Clair Leaman was master of ceremonies. Doris Martin read the class poem. Janet Stoner Wenger led the singing of both the class dedication song and the class song, which the members had the opportunity to practice since Janet had placed it on YouTube. Memorial tributes were led by Pearl Snader Lantz, Susan Hess Guengerich and Esther Sauder Sensenig. Many people stayed and socialized until it was time to close the Alumni Dining Hall.

The next day, 49 of the group took a bus for a guided tour of the Pearl S. Buck national landmark home to discover the life and legacy of the Pulitzer-prize winning writer, advocate and humanitarian. A 50th anniversary book is being completed and will be mailed to each person in the class.

REPORT FORM THE 45TH REUNION

Sixty seven classmates and spouses gathered in the media center at the Lancaster Campus on November 19, 2010. It was an evening of laughing, a few tears, sharing stories and reminiscing. Friends and spouses enjoyed Hess’s Barbecue, all-you-eat pork and chicken.

The event was an informal evening of fellowship with a short meeting. Clair Leaman lead the singing of the class song, “Launching with a Living Christ” (written by Jewel Wenger Showalter , music by Clair Leaman). Leon Weber read the class poem written by his twin sister, JaVonn McPherson (Lois Weber). We then attempted the Dedication Song. All present agreed, our singing was not the highlight of the evening; we will need to practice the music prior to the 50th class reunion. J. Richard Thomas updated the class on the current status/students of LMS.
