Lancaster Mennonite had 7 students participate in the year-long career exploration and mentoring program throuugh the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce called Discovering Paths 2024-25. Juniors were paired with professional mentors in the community and explored future careers through a number of events and shadowing experiences with local organizations, like the Food Hub, and businesses in fields, like STEM, medical, and attended job fairs.
Meiah Martinez shared about her experience, “I shadowed in the Labor and Delivery Department at UPMC Lititz, where I had the incredible experience of watching a mom give birth. This opportunity gave me a clear vision of my future and confirmed my passion for working in the medical field.”
Participant, Caroline Clement shared, “My time with Discovering Paths was such a cool experience. I had done three job shadows, one with High Industries, one with the North Museum, and one with Robotic Worx Millersville and Precision Cobotics. Robotic Worx and Precision Cobotics really stood out to me and helped me with figuring out that I want to do Engineering in the future. I have gained insight into what an average day would be like for an engineer in robotics, which was really cool and helpful to know. Without Discovering Paths, I would be so much more in the dark about my future; the program helped me consider all of my options, even the ones I thought I wouldn’t be interested in.”
