Lancaster Mennonite School is proud to recognize eight rising ninth-grade students who have earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy at the Functional Fluency level in Spanish, an internationally recognized certification that validates bilingual and biliterate skills.

The students receiving this distinction are:

  • Joelyn Blessing
  • Olivia Bare
  • Naomi Dalen
  • Isabel Reinford
  • Ethan Buckwalter
  • Silas Charles
  • Eric de la Rosa Ruark
  • Carter Hundley

The Global Seal of Biliteracy certifies proficiency in two or more languages and is recognized by employers, educational institutions, and organizations around the world. Earning this credential demonstrates the students’ ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish through reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

In addition to earning the certification, two students achieved a historic milestone for Lancaster Mennonite’s middle school Spanish program. Naomi Dalen and Eric de la Rosa Ruark became the first LM middle school students to score at the Advanced level in all four assessed language categories: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.

This achievement reflects years of dedication, perseverance, and engagement in language learning. Beyond developing communication skills, studying another language fosters cultural understanding, global awareness, and meaningful connections with people from diverse backgrounds.

“At Lancaster Mennonite, we seek to equip students to engage thoughtfully and compassionately with the world around them,” said Aubrey Kreider, Director of Marketing & Communications. “These students have demonstrated an impressive commitment to language learning and have achieved a level of proficiency that will benefit them in their future academic, professional, and personal pursuits.”

As these students prepare to begin high school this fall, they do so with an internationally recognized credential and a strong foundation in bilingual communication.

Lancaster Mennonite School congratulates Joelyn, Olivia, Naomi, Isabel, Ethan, Silas, Eric, and Carter on this outstanding accomplishment.

¡Muchas felicidades!
