Lancaster Mennonite School is pleased to celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2026 at its 84th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Calvin & Janet High Fine Arts Center. The ceremony will also be available via livestream for those unable to attend in person.
Sixty seniors will be honored as they complete their Lancaster Mennonite journey, marking an important milestone in both their academic and faith formation. Rooted in this year’s theme, Rooted in Christ, the ceremony reflects the guiding verse from Colossians 2:6–7, encouraging graduates to continue living lives grounded in faith, strengthened in Christ, and overflowing with thankfulness.
This year’s Senior Class Committee includes Co-Presidents Ella Grace Binkley and William John Rothwein; Co-Vice Presidents Marian Castillo-Garcia and Katherine Elinor Metzler; Treasurer Nolan Parsons; and Secretary TJ Kennedy. These student leaders have helped guide their class throughout the year and will play an important role in the day’s celebration.
The Commencement program will feature a variety of meaningful elements, including a welcome and prayer by Superintendent Dr. Michael I. Badriaki, musical selections from the Senior Musicians Ensemble under the direction of Kirsten E. Baker, and reflections from student speakers Katherine Elinor Metzler and William John Rothwein.

Commencement Speaker
The Class of 2026 will also hear from Commencement speaker Dr. Christine J. Gardner, Provost of Messiah University, whose address is titled “Standing Firm.” Dr. Gardner brings extensive experience in higher education, having previously served in leadership and faculty roles at Gordon College, Wheaton College, and the University of Notre Dame. She holds a doctorate in Communication Studies from Northwestern University and has dedicated her career to teaching, leadership, and scholarship.
Additional highlights of the ceremony include the presentation of the class by Principal Kirk R. Benner, the awarding of diplomas by school leadership and board representatives, the presentation of the class gift, a faculty blessing, and the traditional hat toss to conclude the celebration.
In an effort to make this special day accessible to all loved ones, no tickets are required for attendance this year. Graduates are encouraged to invite family and friends to share in this meaningful occasion.
Lancaster Mennonite School looks forward to celebrating the accomplishments, growth, and future of the Class of 2026 as they take their next steps—firmly rooted in Christ.
