Forest School Fridays

forest fridayThis year we are launching a unique “Forest School Fridays” program on Friday mornings for PreK & Kindergarten English classes to take their learning outdoors to explore nature, build knowledge of and appreciation for God’s creation, and engage in child-led play. Forest School is a concept encouraging routine, child-led outdoor learning experiences to help build resilience, improve social skills and mental health, and connect to nature.

Activities might include things like scavenger hunts, hikes, campfires, science lessons, math activities, and Bible, art and music that integrate the outdoors into students’ holistic learning. We are excited to start this program!

Spanish-English Bilingual Play and Learning

students in a circleWe are also excited to begin introducing Spanish-English bilingual play and learning within the curriculum. One of LM’s program priorities is world languages, and introducing students to language early in their development builds empathy, critical thinking, and academic rigor! PreK students will engage with bilingual play through the use of “Hola Amigo” resources, featuring bilingual dramatic play, centers activities, video and song, and age-appropriate, high interest fiction and nonfiction readings.

Families interested in the English or Spanish Immersion program at LM for Kindergarten are encouraged to start at LM for PreK to build skills and relationships that transition well to LM’s Kindergarten program!
