Restoring ‘The Cove’, an Outdoor Classroom and Nature spot

The LM Green Team, led by Ella Coakley ‘22, Ella Brandt ‘23 and Yoseph Chong ‘22, is in the process of restoring ‘the Cove’, a wooded outdoor classroom and hang-out spot on our 95-acre campus! Ella Coakley shares, “With seating, a firepit, and natural foliage it’s a great space for classes like photography, spiritual formation, or really for any class that wants to go out on a nice day. Green Teams’ goal is to maintain and improve our campus and so this is a bigger project that we are excited about and will continue to work on more in spring.”

Neil Reinford, the faculty leader of the club, shares “The Green Team has spent club periods clearing the Cove of fallen tree limbs. They asked the forestry class if they could cut up a large tree that was down in the area and the class cut it up, some to make seats to sit on and split and stacked some next to the fireplace. The Green Team does not know all the ways it will be used yet – can we make something educational for elementary classes? A place of contemplation? Art?”

We love how these students are working to change the world, right where they are!
