LM Graduated 137 students on Saturday, May 30!
LM held the Commencement Ceremony virtually through a livestream on May 30 at 10am. The ceremony included music from current students and faculty, student scripture readers, a commencement address by John Denlinger, graduates’ names and awards read by LM faculty and staff with photos and names of students projected on the Fine Arts Center screen behind the readers, a prayer from LM community members and parents by Jim and Valerie Baer, and a benediction and sending by Diane Umble, Board Chair.
Following the virtual commencement ceremony was a drive through diploma pick-up from 12-2pm for students and families to drive through campus to receive their diploma in their caps and gowns and get professional photos taken near the Iron Bridge. Faculty and staff lined the entryway of the campus holding signs and balloons and shouting their congratulations to students and families as they drove through the middle of campus in a parade of cars to receive their diploma and get a photo taken before crossing the Iron Bridge and Millstream and departing campus. Many family’s cars were covered in signs and balloons for the drive through celebration.
While the limitations around COVID-19 this year made for a very different type of graduation ceremony and celebration, it created a unique opportunity to still celebrate the amazing accomplishments and milestones of our LM 2020 graduates that none will soon forget! We officially welcome the class of 2020 as LM alumni, and can’t wait to see all the ways you will continue to be world changers!!
The class motto was “Choose your dreams but always know the road that will lead you home” (Tim McGraw) and the class verse is “Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” (Isaiah 64:8).
The class of 2020 was led by Lauren Victoria Will, President; Frances Hurst Brubaker, Vice President; Olivia Lynn Coakley, Secretary and Gavin Lewis Baer, Treasurer.
